Monrovia – The United States Embassy has formally launched the American Business Association in Liberia (ABAIL), creating a new platform intended to give American businesses operating in the country a stronger collective voice and deepen commercial ties between Liberia and the United States.
U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Joe Zadrozny inducted ABAIL’s inaugural leadership team during a ceremony in Monrovia on Friday, August 21, 2026, attended by senior Liberian government officials and business leaders.
Vice President Jeremiah K. Koung, Finance and Development Planning Minister Augustine Ngafuan, and Commerce and Industry Minister Magdalene Dagoseh participated in the ceremony, describing the establishment of the association as an important step in Liberia’s expanding economic partnership with the United States.
Zadrozny said ABAIL is expected to improve coordination among U.S. companies in Liberia while creating a more structured channel for private-sector engagement.
He also linked the association’s formation to efforts aimed at increasing investor confidence, expanding trade and supporting Liberia’s economic reform priorities.
For the Liberian government, the launch comes as officials continue efforts to attract foreign investment and strengthen the country’s commercial environment.
The association is expected to provide American companies with a unified platform to engage policymakers, identify investment opportunities and contribute to discussions surrounding Liberia’s economic development.
Government officials welcomed the initiative, emphasizing that stronger private-sector cooperation can help expand economic opportunities and reinforce the longstanding relationship between Liberia and the United States.
With the induction of its first leadership team, ABAIL now enters the U.S.-Liberia economic landscape as a new institutional platform for advancing business interests and promoting greater trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
