Monrovia – Liberian Ambassador for Performing and Visual Arts Rose B. Kingston has strongly rejected allegations linking her to international drug trafficking, describing the claims as false, defamatory and completely unfounded.
In a statement, Kingston said the allegations are inconsistent with more than 25 years of professional experience, public service and financial independence built through what she described as legitimate work in Liberia and the United States.
She maintained that her properties and other assets were acquired through lawful income and categorically denied any connection between her financial holdings and criminal activities.
Kingston also raised concerns over the publication and circulation of what she described as personal identifying and sensitive information in connection with the allegations.
She argued that the disclosure of such information constitutes an invasion of her privacy and may amount to defamation, particularly where the information is presented alongside allegations of serious criminal conduct.
The ambassador said she is seeking professional and legal advice and has reserved the right to pursue legal action against individuals or organizations responsible for publishing or distributing what she considers false and damaging claims.
Kingston also called on media institutions and journalists to exercise greater caution and responsibility when reporting allegations involving serious criminal offenses.
She urged journalists to independently verify information before publishing claims that could damage an individual’s reputation, stressing that unsubstantiated allegations can have lasting personal and professional consequences.
According to Kingston, responsible journalism requires adherence to professional standards, particularly when reporting sensitive allegations involving individuals who have not been proven guilty of any crime.
Despite the controversy, Kingston reaffirmed her commitment to serving Liberia through her work with children, artists, educators and young people.
She said she remains focused on her public responsibilities while taking appropriate steps to defend her reputation and protect her legal rights.
Kingston’s response comes amid heightened public attention surrounding allegations of international drug trafficking in Liberia, as authorities continue investigations into a broader narcotics-related case.
She has, however, firmly denied any involvement in criminal activities and maintains that the allegations against her are without factual basis.
