Attorney Cornelia Wonker Kruah, Minister of Youth and Sports, has congratulated NPA Pythons and D-Rockas for emerging champions of the 2026 Liberia Basketball Association (LBA) League.
The two teams were crowned champions on Saturday following thrilling Game Five encounters at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex Gymnasium in Paynesville.
NPA Pythons secured the men’s First Division championship after defeating LPRC Oilers 46–38 points in the decisive fifth game of the Best-of-Five championship series.
The victory gave NPA Pythons a 3–2 series triumph over LPRC Oilers, completing a successful championship campaign marked by determination, discipline and teamwork.
In the women’s division, D-Rockas also claimed the championship after overcoming Flames 61–58 points in a closely contested Game Five.
D-Rockas finished the series with a 3–2 victory, securing the women’s division title after an exciting battle that kept basketball fans engaged until the final whistle.
Presenting trophies to the champions, Minister Kruah praised both NPA Pythons and D-Rockas for their hard work, dedication and commitment throughout the season.
The Youth and Sports Minister also commended the Liberia Basketball Association for organizing what she described as a successful league season and contributing to the continued promotion of basketball in Liberia.
Minister Kruah extended appreciation to the players, coaches, referees, officials, fans, sponsors, stakeholders and everyone who played a role in making the 2026 LBA League a success.
She expressed confidence in the continued growth of basketball in Liberia, urging stakeholders to remain committed to developing young talents and creating more opportunities for players to compete at the highest level.
The Minister’s message comes as Liberian basketball continues to produce talented players and clubs capable of competing on the international stage, with both champions now preparing to represent the country in the next edition of FIBA interclubs competitions.
With NPA Pythons ruling the men’s division and D-Rockas crowned women’s champions, attention now shifts toward their preparations for international competition as they carry Liberia’s flag beyond the country’s borders.
