August, 16, 2022

His Excellency George Manneh Weah, President of the Republic of Liberia,
Her Excellency Madam Touadera; First Lady of the Central African Republic;
Mama Africa;
Madam President, Officials and Members of the Baptist Women’s Union of Africa
Madam Mydea White Simmons, Officials and members of the Baptist Women’s Union, West Africa,
Officials from the different regions across Africa,
Special Guests,
Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good morning to ALL.

This morning I am truly grateful that we; Baptist Women from across Africa; have been able to gather here in Monrovia; to celebrate our 14th Continental Conference. Especially in this age of uncertainty and global crisis; I am certain that this gathering of Baptist Women Leaders has been possible only because of the Grace of Yahweh, our God. For we know that HE is the author and finisher of our Faith. To HIM alone belong PRAISE. Amen.

Permit me to express my profound gratitude to our President, the Officials and Members of the Baptist Women’s Union from Africa in general; and the Baptist Women’s Union West Africa in particular for the invitation extended me to serve as the opening Keynote Speaker for this august occasion.

I am truly grateful for your preferment; not only because I am the first Female Vice President of Liberia (Africa’s Oldest Republic); but more importantly because like each of you here, I am also a Christian Woman of Faith; who is serving as a Co-Worker with you in God’s end time ministries.

Excellencies, Sister President and Fellow Co-Workers; the chosen Theme for this 14th Continental Conference is – LIFE, AN ABUNDANT GIFT; with a reference from the New Testament Book of First Corinthians Chapter 3 verse 9, which reads thus:

“For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field and God’s building”.

This is an appropriate theme; for this Time and Season as it reflects, firstly the MOST PRECIOUS GIFT OF LIFE; secondly, the REASON FOR OUR BEING; and thirdly, our COVENANT ASSIGNMENT; as Christians in giving our lives in faithful service to our calling as Co-Workers with Christ.
And as we gather, together here; we are reminded that this theme is a loud clarion call of REMEMBRANCE to each of us who are privileged to be called Daughters of God; having received and accepted this CALL TO SERVICE, to preach the good news to the ends of the Earth. Please keep in mind that many are called, but a few are chosen. And if you are one of God’s Chosen you are indeed SPECIAL.

Please come with me on a short journey as we together look at several critical points necessary to firstly understanding your ROLE as Co-workers in God’s Service; Secondly, being REJUVENATED for greater works and thirdly keeping FOCUSED so that at the end of this earthly journey, it may be said WELL DONE THY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT.

In Order to understand our Roles as Co-workers in God’s Service, please refresh your minds on the following Concepts:
1. Why is LIFE PRECIOUS?
Because it is God’s best gift to his Creation. As we each live, breathe and move around, unhindered, one can clearly see and experience the love of a benevolent Father. In our overly busy world, most of us miss the value of this gift. It’s so easy to take it for granted, until you almost loose it or see someone you love loose theirs. It is indeed the most precious thing given to us, for without it you are dead.
2. Why was Man created?
The Bible tells us in Genesis Chapter 2, that Man was created by God for HIS pleasure; to take care of all He had made, and to work in harmony with Him to accomplish his purpose to being fruitful, to multiply, to subdue the earth and to worship and obey GOD alone.
3. How did God interact with Man?
Because God is our creator, he has certain expectations of US. And God at the beginning gave us Rules and Regulations to follow. He set certain conditions for Man to operate under, and in return for all HE had given to Man; He went further and mad a solemn promise to Bless man if he obey these conditions. This was done through a covenant; which is intended to guide the choices we make, help us resist temptations; and trust, obey and love God.
4. What are some of the main Covenants between God and Man?
At the beginning when Man was made, the first covenant between was a covenant of works. Wherein life was promised to Adam and his heirs; upon condition of perfect and personal obedience to God’s commandments. From all that God had made; he only set 1 Boundary – He told man – Do not eat of the fruit of the Tree of knowledge of good and evil, for if you do eat of it you shall surely die.

Because Man disobeyed, God in His infinite Love and mercy; made the second covenant. It was the covenant of GRACE. Whereby God freely forgave Mankind and offered unto sinners a second chance of life and salvation thru the shared blood of Jesus Christ. This also had a condition which required that you believe in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior; and that you have complete Faith in HIM alone, for He is the only one who shared his blood on the cross so that we may have everlasting life. That is why the song writer so clearly states;

I HAVE NO OTHER ARGUMENT, I HAVE NO OTHER PLEA; IT IS ENOUGH THAT JESUS DIED AND THAT HE DIED FOR ME. For this is our ONE assurance.

The third covenant is the covenant of Redemption, which refers to the eternal agreement between the Father and Son to save and redeem a people chosen in Christ before the ages began. Oh what love, our God has shown towards us? That whilst we were yet sinners – He had already made a plan to redeem us to himself so that – if you believe on the name of Jesus Christ you will be saved.

5. What then is our Covenant Assignment?
In the Book of Matthew chapter 28: verses 19 – 20 clearly states our current covenant assignment- it states:
“Therefore go and make disciples of all Nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, son and Holy Spirit; teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
This commandment reveals the true heart of a loving God; who desires all people to be saved and come to a knowledge of the TRUTH; which is that Jesus Christ is the only way to our Heavenly Father. And so God commanded each of US – as believers of this doctrine, whereby we are called Christians – to share this Good News until everyone has heard it. For on that day when he shall appear at his second coming – NONE WILL BE LOST, EXCEPT THOSE WHO HAD HEARD THE GOOD NEWS OF SALVATION THROUGH JESUS; AND YET REFUSED IT.
Christians Brothers and Sisters – Today is the day of enlightenment; do not harden your hearts; for no one knows who will be called next to the great beyond.

Excellencies, Sisters and Fellow Co-Workers in God’s service; over the next few days; I believe this cloud of witnesses will be tarrying and praying in this UPPER ROOM; so that the Holy Spirit will fall upon each of us and pour Fresh Fire for the renewal and recommitment of our Covenant Assignment in these last days. For we know that the devil is a roaring lion… seeking whom he may destroy. For he knows that his end is near.

In order to continue on this Covenant Assignment some of the practical ways we can fulfill the Great Commission given to US is to:

1. TEACH ABOUT GOD’S UNCONDITIONAL LOVE FOR ALL PEOPLES AND ALL NATIONS.
2. PRAY FOR GOD TO RAISE UP MANY MISSIONARIES TO GO TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH.
3. RAISE FUNDS FOR MISSIONARY WORK.
4. TRAIN UP THE NEXT GENERATION TO BE READY FOR THEIR TASKS.
5. BE TRUE EXAMPLES OF OUR FAITH.
6. BUILD RELATIONSHIPS AND SHARE THE GOOD NEWS IN YOUR SPHERE
OF INFLUENCE.
7. PLANT CHURCHES ANYWHERE THEY ARE NEEDED.
8. BE AN EVANGELIST AND SPREAD THE WORD, ESPECIALLY THAT CHRIST IS COMING SOON.
9. EMPOWER MEMBERS OF THIS COMISSION AND DELEGATE RESPONSIBILITIES TO EACH.
10. LIVE AS CHRIST WOULD HAVE, AND BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE.
INDEED THIS IS THE CENTRAL PURPOSE OF OUR ASSIGNMENT. FOR AFTER BEING SAVED, OUR LIVES ARE NO LONGER OURS. IT BELONGS TO JESUS CHRIST WHO DIED A CRUEL DEATH ON THE CROSS AS A RANSOM FROM SIN, DEATH AND HELL.
THE SIMPLE TRUTH IS THAT HE REDEEMED US SO THAT WE MIGHT BECOME USEFUL IN HIS KINGDOM. AS WE BECOME USEFUL FOR HIS PURPOSE, WE ARE RAISED TO THE STATUS OF THE ABUNDANT LIFE IN CHRIST – A TRUE GIFT.
This is our assurance; that when we live for HIM, according to HIS Purpose; our lives are Full and all things are ours as stated in Matthew chapter 6 verse 33 which reads:
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God; and his righteousness; and all these things will be added unto you.”
And further stated in the Book of John chapter 10 verse 10b which reads thus;
“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
This means that because Christ shed his blood on the cross for us; once we believe, obey and follow his commandments- our lives are full of joy; so that we have strength for our spirit, body and soul. This context if further strengthened by the verse in 1st Corinthians Chapter 2 verse 9 which reads thus:

“ no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.”
Keep in mind the following:
1. That ABUNDANT LIFE IS SPIRITUAL ABUNDANCE – for the spirit filled walk of purpose.
2. The ABUNDANT LIFE is sustained by a closer relationship with God.
3. The ABUNDANT LIFE revolves around the Grace, Knowledge and Faith In Jesus our Lord.
4. The ABUNDANT LIFE is sustained by the blessings bestowed on those who follow and obey.
Excellencies, Christian Brothers and Sisters; the Good news is that if we TRUST AND OBEY; our broken relationship with God is restored; He fills the void in our hearts; He is the bread of life and will satisfy all of our needs according to his riches in glory; He gives us Peace, Joy and most importantly He gives us Purpose. This is the JOY of our Christian Life and the assurance that if we believe, trust and obey – we will have an abundant life here on earth and in heaven above.

Our assignment of being a co-worker with God does not mean that God needs laborers for Him to do His work. After all, He created everything by Himself. Instead, it means that we are co-workers in governing the world that He created. It means that we have the responsibility to take care of what God has given us, which is literally everything. It also means that we have the responsibility to be the ministry of Christ, which was given to us as a responsibility.

So let us each, look straight ahead; fix our eyes on the gift before us; keep focused on our assignments given; and press forward towards the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. For this is the only way to eternal life.

Excellencies, Honored Guests, Brothers and Sisters in Christ; in closing; permit me to say that I AM CERTAIN IN MY FAITH, THAT IF WE EACH WALK THIS PATH AND FULFILL OUR GOD GIVEN ASSIGNMENTS; WE WILL RECEIVE OUR CROWNS WHEN WE STAND BEFORE OUR MAKER; WHO WILL SAY WELL DONE THY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT.

IF THIS IS YOUR ASSURANCES ALSO, kindly join me in singing one of the great hymns of our faith – A CHARGE TO KEEP HAVE I

1. A charge to keep I have,
A God to glorify,
A never-dying soul to save,
And fit it for the sky.

2. To serve the present age,
My calling to fulfill;
Oh, may it all my pow’rs engage
To do my Master’s will!

3. Arm me with watchful care
As in Thy sight to live,
And now Thy servant, Lord, prepare
A strict account to give!

4. Help me to watch and pray,
And still on Thee rely,
Oh, let me not my trust betray,
But press to realms on high.

AMEN.
