Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Revenue Authority has commenced a technical working session aimed at conducting a comprehensive review of the Liberia Revenue Code to ensure that the country’s tax and revenue administration framework remains aligned with current economic, business, and administrative realities.
The five-day review session, taking place in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, is organized by the LRA’s Policy, Statistics and Strategic Planning Division (PSSPD). The exercise brings together technical experts from across the Authority to examine existing provisions of the Revenue Code and identify areas that require amendment.
The review seeks to modernize revenue legislation and strengthen the effectiveness of tax administration by addressing provisions that may no longer adequately reflect Liberia’s evolving economic environment.
Proposed amendments arising from the review will be submitted to the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning for further technical discussions and stakeholder consultations. The outcome of those engagements will help shape the final package of amendments before it is forwarded to the National Legislature for consideration and passage in line with established legislative procedures.
The initiative underscores the LRA’s commitment to maintaining a modern, responsive, and efficient revenue framework capable of supporting sustainable economic growth and strengthening public financial management in Liberia.
