“I’m Not A Fool” -ALP Political Leader Laments Wants The War Crime Court Establish Here.

“I’m not a fool and will not go against the will of the people. We must respect the will of the people because I’m a conformist”, says Benoni W. Urey, Political Leader of the All Liberian Party (ALP).

According to Mr. Urey, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) invited him but he refused because the TRC was a one-party affairs comprised the progressives. He further stated that he is on no sanction list, under no travel ban and his accounts, including international have been audited by international institutions coupled with being audited twice by this government and was given a clean sheet.

Mr. Urey also made it clear that he never fought any war in Liberia; but shall always be gracious to detained former President Charles Ghankay Taylor because he (Taylor) saved his mother’s life and will always be grateful to him.

He emphasized that he will never denounce Taylor, adding that Taylor is a very good man and he owes nobody any apology for being an associate of him.

At the same time, the ALP leader stated that he supports the establishment of the war crime court where are reportedly accused for the commission of heinous crimes against humanity can face the law and exonerate themselves if unable, be prosecuted and serve their sentences.

He pointed out that this will be a healthy exercise because justice will be done to all victims of the scourge earth  and mass murders inflicted by warlords, stressing the hiding behind clemency  or pardon is not the right way to go;  all must have their day in court because there can be no genuine peace without justice.

Mr. Urey made the statement on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at his Lonestar office in Monrovia when he met with journalists.
