I Heard…A poem

A Poem

I heard we have a President, may he govern us with nobility, honorability, credibility, compassion, a spirit of nationalism, and the fear of God;

I heard, we have Senators, may they senate us well, by making good laws and protecting the interest of the nation and its people;

I heard, we have Representatives, may they represent us well; by making good laws and protecting the interest of the nation and its people;

I heard, we have a Supreme Court, may the judges there fairly and honorably discharged their duties and dispense Justice to all men;

I heard, we have a Religious Council, may our Bishops, Pastors, and Imams pray for all of us and honor all men irrespective of their status and station;

I heard, we have a media, may our journalists report the truth and be guided by professionalism but more importantly, by patriotism;

I heard, we have Civil Society, may they fearlessly and righteously advocate for the poor, oppressed, abused, mortified, and all people subjected to injustice, humiliation, and savagism;

I heard, we have opposition politicians, may they stand up for the masses, speak aloud against societal vices, resist misrule, and thrive in truth, honesty, probity, and dignity;

I heard, we have soldiers, may they be loyal to the country and defend us well against external threats and aggression;

I heard, we have Police, may they battle crimes with dare and valor, and ensure law and order without fear and favor;

And I heard, we have daring Patriots, may they defend the country cause and fearlessly raise their swords in fierce defiance to all forms of evils obtaining in the homeland and be posted at the barricades until it is Uhuru.
