Bea Mountain FC, popularly known as The Miner, continued its impressive preseason campaign with a convincing 4-1 victory over Discoveries FC in the Bettomax Cup, as several of the club’s new signings made an immediate impact.
The victory provided another positive sign for Bea Mountain ahead of the upcoming Liberia Football Association First Division league season, with the team displaying attacking quality, defensive organization and strong individual performances.
Bea Mountain opened the scoring in the 26th minute through new signing Brandon Yaya Debah, who delivered a brilliant volley to set up fellow newcomer Darius Garmodeh, who converted to put The Miner ahead 1-0.
The Miner doubled its advantage in the 32nd minute when Nuch Zohn provided the assist for Fredrick Barsee, who calmly finished to give Bea Mountain a 2-0 lead.
Discoveries FC, however, responded before halftime after Pewou Bestman committed a foul on Helbret Kieh inside the penalty area. The referee awarded a penalty, which Darius Mulbah converted to reduce the deficit to 2-1.
The first half ended with Bea Mountain holding a narrow 2-1 advantage, but the performance of the new recruits continued to give the Miner’s supporters plenty of reason for optimism.
After the restart, Brandon Yaya Debah once again showed his quality. In the 52nd minute, the former LPRC Oilers captain delivered another excellent assist, setting up winger Ralph Weah, who finished to restore Bea Mountain’s two-goal advantage at 3-1.
Debah’s performance was one of the major highlights of the match, as the right-back contributed two assists on his debut while also helping to keep Discoveries FC’s attacking players under control throughout the contest.
Bea Mountain’s new signings continued to make their presence felt, with Leo Zinnah, Josiah Cea, Armad Savage, Darius Garmodeh, Parched Amos and Brandon Yaya Debah all featuring and making valuable contributions during their preseason debut.
With Discoveries FC struggling to find a way back into the match, Bea Mountain maintained control and continued to create opportunities as the game moved toward its closing stages.
In the 88th minute, Fredrick Barsee Dennis stepped up from the penalty spot and converted to complete Bea Mountain’s 4-1 victory and cap an impressive outing for The Miner.
The result will boost Bea Mountain’s confidence as preparations intensify for the new LFA First Division season. With several new players already showing their quality, The Miner appears to be building strong momentum ahead of the league campaign.
