The Political Leader of the All Liberian Party (ALP), Mr. Benoni W. Urey has written the President of the United States of America, Mr. Joe Biden requesting rapid U.S. intervention into Liberia’s current health crisis.
In a letter dated June 28, Mr. Urey informed President Biden that the health crisis in Liberia is nothing less than a calamity, and grief has consumed the country.
Mr. Urey further disclosed that health facilities in the country lack capacity and resources to deal with what he described as a horrifying medical crisis that is plaguing Liberia and Liberians at the moment.
Recounting the fraternal relationship which subsists between Liberia and the United States, as well as the goodwill of the American people over the years, Mr. Urey pleaded with President Biden to give kindest consideration to attending to the cry of the Liberian people and sharing in our grief by intervening in the health crisis to save the Liberian people.
Meanwhile, in a release issued, the ALP Political Leader has reiterated his appeal to all Liberians to continue to adhere to all health safety measures being prescribed by health authorities and our partners.
This is not the first time that Mr. Urey is appealing to Liberians to strictly abide by all health protocols advanced by the Ministry of Health; besides the current Coronavirus, he was instrumental in appealing to the Liberian people to adhere to the preventive measures put forth during the Ebola menace; and even used his personal resources to purchase and distribute buckets and all prescribed sanitation items needed to fight Ebola and keep the people safe.
He was also vocal in ensuring that former president who was out of the country when Ebola was ravaging the people’s lives at home, cut short her visit abroad and return home and take charge of the situation by providing the most needed leadership.
During the raging Ebola battle, the United States under former president Barack H. Obama intervened with maximum medical assistance including US military servicemen whose efforts immensely helped to overcome the Ebola scourge.
When the country and people are gravely catching real hell from the third wave of the coronavirus; pathetically piercing their lives with a profoundly challenged healthcare delivery system; wherein the urgent need for the leader to be at home and provides the most leadership imbued with confidence and hope; unfortunately, the President of Liberia, Dr. George M. Weah , amidst the COVID’s horror and misery, has departed the country early Monday, June 28, 2021 for Paris, France to participate in the 2021 Generation Equality Forum.
