Monrovia, Liberia – Liberian teenage attacking midfielder Richmond Bleh is reportedly on the verge of a major international move, with Sudanese giants Al Hilal said to have completed a deal for the highly rated youngster from Discoveries SA.
The reported transfer package is valued at US$128,000, making the move one of the notable recent opportunities for a young Liberian footballer. Bleh is reportedly set to receive a US$15,000 signing-on bonus, alongside a monthly salary of approximately US$1,500.
According to reports emerging from Liberia, the young midfielder will not immediately travel to Sudan. Instead, Bleh is expected to remain with Discoveries SA on loan until he reaches the age of 18, after which he would officially join Al Hilal.
The transfer story was first brought to public attention by Liberian journalist Timothy Toby, before gaining wider attention among football followers in Sudan and Liberia.
Sudanese sports journalist Mohamed Altrify has also reported on the reported move, further increasing attention around the Discoveries SA youngster and his potential future with one of Sudan’s biggest clubs.
Bleh’s football journey is particularly notable because he reportedly began his development with third-division side Des Moines in Grand Bassa County, where reports indicate that Discoveries SA acquired the youngster for just US$250.
From a modest beginning, Bleh has continued to develop his talent and attract attention through his performances at youth and county levels. His progress has placed him among the young Liberian players attracting interest beyond the country’s borders.
The attacking midfielder has also represented Grand Bassa County twice in the National County Sports Meet, gaining valuable experience competing against some of the country’s best young football talents.
Bleh’s development also earned him recognition at the national level. He was part of Liberia’s Under-20 national team delegation that traveled to London several months ago for test matches, giving him another opportunity to showcase his ability on an international platform.
His reported move to Al Hilal could therefore represent an important step in the career of a player who has risen from the lower levels of Liberian football to attracting interest from a major African club.
For Discoveries SA, the reported deal would also highlight the club’s growing reputation for identifying and developing young talents. Bleh’s journey from Des Moines to Discoveries SA and now toward a potential move to Al Hilal could become an encouraging example for other emerging Liberian footballers.
